How to host an Israeli au pair.

You start with Israel Au Pair, which selects and introduces candidates. A U.S. Department of State-designated au pair sponsor approves each placement and administers the exchange.

The five steps

  1. Get to know your family

Tell us about your children, location, timing, and the kind of person you would love to welcome. We start with a short fit check and a conversation.

  2. Build your shortlist

We consider candidate quality and compatibility while checking which designated sponsor can support your location and the candidate's circumstances.

  3. Meet and choose together

You and the candidate interview each other. During matching we confirm the proposed sponsor and explain its process and terms. Any preference remains subject to the sponsor's approval.

  4. Complete sponsor approval

The designated sponsor completes its required screening and decides whether to approve the placement. Once accepted, the candidate applies for the J-1 visa using the sponsor-issued documents.

  5. Prepare for the year

We help prepare both sides within our agreed role. Arrival depends on the required approvals and travel arrangements; the sponsor administers the exchange and ongoing program support.

Who does what

Israel Au Pair

Recruiting, evaluation, family discovery, curated introductions, interview preparation, and support for mutual choice. No final program approval.

The designated sponsor

Formal eligibility, background and English verification, host family screening, placement approval, DS-2019 documents, training, insurance, monitoring, and rematch decisions.

The U.S. government

The visa decision, admission, and the program rules.

You begin with Israel Au Pair. As we learn about your family and a potential match, we identify a U.S. Department of State-designated au pair sponsor suited to your location and the candidate's circumstances, and we explain that sponsor's role, process, and terms before formal enrollment and before any commitment. The sponsor independently screens participants, approves the placement, and administers the J-1 program, including required training, insurance, and local support. Visa decisions are made by the U.S. government.

Timing depends on candidate availability, your start date, and the sponsor's process. We give you a realistic estimate in your consultation.
